If you’re looking for a primal showpiece for your dinner menu, a tomahawk steak would be the perfect choice. It is said to resemble a single-handed axe hence its name, though it’s also referred to as a bone-in rib eye or cowboy steak.


This particular cut is actually a beef rib eye with the whole fore-rib left. The bone is French-trimmed, meaning excess meat is removed to expose the bone for plating purposes. Being a type of rib steak, it has a lot of inter-muscular fat offering an incredible combination of flavour and tenderness when cooked.


Here at Cashells, our tomahawk steak usually weighs an average of 650g. We allow it to mature for 28 days for added flavour depth and complexity. It can feed approximately two people so it’s an ideal choice for romantic meals or special occasions.
