Our June Cheese Selection showcases the breadth of British artisan cheesemaking talent, with a choice of three deliciously different varieties including the multi-award-winning Pitchfork Cheddar, peppery Barkham Blue and gorgeously gooey Golden Cenarth. Tasting Notes

Pitchfork Cheddar 350g-400g
Pitchfork Cheddar is a multi-award-winning extra-mature cheddar from Somerset’s renowned Trethowan Brothers. It’s handmade using raw organic cow’s milk, clothbound with lard and matured for 10-12 months for a really rich full-bodied flavour with a succulent, lactic bite. Dense and creamy, with a soft, flaky texture, this is Cheddar as it should be. Made using animal rennet.

Barkham Blue 180g-200g
Barkham Blue is the much-lauded product of Two Hoots Cheese, a small, family-run dairy in Berkshire. It’s handmade with a creamy blend of rich local milk from Jersey and Guernsey breed cows. The beautiful ammonite-shaped rounds have a rustic-looking mould-ripened rind and a deep-yellow interior threaded with dark blue-green veins. But it’s the flavour we love most: gloriously rich and tangy, without the harshness of some blue cheeses, and with a smooth, buttery texture that melts on the tongue. No wonder it’s Durwyn’s favourite blue cheese. Suitable for vegetarians.

Golden Cenarth 200g
Golden Cenarth is a pungent, semi-soft organic cheese, rind-washed in cider to develop its characteristic orange-hued coating and uniquely savoury, nutty taste. The cheese softens as it ripens, with the flavour and aroma becoming richer and more distinct. And if you like your cheese even more gooey, try baking it at 200˚C for 20 minutes. Suitable for vegetarians.
