For our October Artisan Cheese Selection, we’ve headed to the award-winning Cote Hill dairy, run by the Davenport family in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds. Made using raw cow’s milk from the family’s own herd, their cheeses have real character. Our selection includes their buttery Cote Hill Yellow, Lindum, a savoury washed-rind cheese, and peppery Cote Hill Blue. Perfect with a 125g box of The Fine Cheese Co’s savoury crackers (£2.25 extra). See below for individual cheese tasting notes and allergy advice.

Cote Hill Yellow, 300-325g
A play on the old “yellowbelly” nickname for people from the Lincolnshire Fens, Cote Hill Yellow is a mellow and beautifully buttery cheese. It’s matured in its yellow wax coating, which retains the cheese’s natural moisture and allows it to develop a luscious light texture and subtle sweetish tang. Suitable for vegetarians.

Cote Hill Lindum, 250-300g
Lindum is a semi-hard washed-rind cheese that takes its name from the old Roman word for Lincoln. It’s an elegant cheese, with a full-flavoured natural pink rind and nutty, savoury depth, thanks to regular washings with Harvest Gold ale from the local Ferry Ales Brewery. Suitable for vegetarians.

Cote Hill Blue, 300-325g
Multi-award-winning Cote Hill Blue balances the rich creaminess of the Davenport’s milk with the peppery bite of classic P. Roquefortii cultures. The cheese matures from a slightly chalky centre to a creamy, sometimes runny texture, and the natural rind develops an array of moulds that further enhance the flavour. Delicious! Suitable for vegetarians
